Introducing Toward Reward’s latest racing prospect, a 3YO chestnut gelding by ZOUSTAR. This racehorse was recently secured on the 2022 Inglis Digital September (late) sale for just $37,500.00 + GST. The horse was originally purchased as a yearling from the 2021 Inglis Premier Sale for $120,000.00 out of the Widden Stud draft. He is very lightly raced with only 4 starts on the board, including a 2nd at Pakenham over the 1100M. Shares in this young, lightly raced, readymade racehorse are available for a fraction of what it would cost to buy a horse of this calibre as a yearling and to get him through his educational preparations to this point, and he’s still a maiden galloper, he won’t have to do much to reward his new owners! Racing Victoria recently raised the prizemoney for a country maiden to 37.5K.

This gelding is to be trained by Patrick Kearney out of his Ballarat on-course stables. He was selected in partnership with Lenny Russo of Bluegrass Bloodstock and Patrick Kearney of Patrick Kearney Racing.


Lenny Russo (bloodstock agent) comments: There’s lots to like about Our Valley Star, the recent purchase for Toward Reward Thoroughbreds. We were looking to find a good solid tried horse that was young, and with upside, that could go through the grades. We settled on this fella here. Zoustar is a stallion that’s standing for $200K currently, he is one of the best stallions in Australia. This fella is only a 3YO. He was a $120K purchase and is out of a Show A Heart mare that was stakes-placed in the William Crockett Stakes. My experience with Zoustar’s is that they are not early maturing horses, they tend to take time. Looking at this guy, he’s got a bit of leg, there is improvement there. That’s what really attracted us to this guy, we know he is probably not all there physically yet. He has shown some really nice form in the maidens. His 2nd on the synthetic was a really good run. He’s only had 4 starts, Everything is ahead of him. Hopefully, he’s a horse that can go through the grades. I’m really excited by this horse for Toward Reward, I think he is a really nice prospect and I would encourage anyone that’s looking to race with Toward Reward and Patrick Kearney.”
