Description

At Prime Thoroughbreds 26 of the 27 three and four year olds we syndicated have raced with 21 winning races.


These include the VRC Lexus Plate winner Hijack Hussy, 5Th in VRC Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes Husson Eagle, BRC Mode Stakes winner Savoureux, Unique, Awasita Bella Venus and Rumeron.


This season we have WON Stakes or Metropolitan races in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Hobart with a winning strike rate of about 22%.


At any one time we only have approximately 25 horses in work.


My reasons for buying the filly are as follows:


Firstly, this filly is a terrific type out of filly. She impressed me and also Bill Mitchell when he inspected her. Dr. Tim Roberts who does a lot of vet work for us wrote of the filly: ‘She was an athletic filly. She is a well conformed individual, has good rein and presented in excellent condition. She was examined in hand, and found to be free moving.’ I’m thrilled to have purchased her.


Secondly, I believe that it is probably more important where a horse is reared than who its parents are. This colt was reared at Patinack Farm, which is developing a reputation for breeding tough competitive horses. She was sold through the Kitchwin Hills draft as Patinack Farm didn’t have a draft at the sale.


Ben Lawrence from Patinack Farm who I have a high regard for suggested a take the effort to inspect the filly. I purchased Husson Eagle, Rumeron and Arrayanes from Patinack Farm.


Thirdly, the colt is by Hussonet’s best son at stud in Husson and is a product of one the most potent crosses in Australia today. When Hussonet and now his sons are put over Danehill line stallions mares the results have been amazing. Nine of Husson’s 17 stakes horses in Australia are bred on this cross.


Fourthly, Head Over Heels is a very well related daughter of Fastnet Rock, Australia’s premier sire at present. She was a fast filly which I like and also lightly raced which I like. This is her third foal and easily her best mating.


She is a ½ sister to the good sprinter and four time stakes winner Presently. She is also a ½ to Another Time which was placed 2nd in the Black Opal Stakes.


Big Pedigree update: Head Over Heels ½ sister Gifted Lass’s foal Serena Miss was placed 2nd in the Group 2 WRC Wakefield Challenge Stakes on 6 December and has won and been placed twice in just three starts.


Head Over Heels was a $130,000 purchase as a yearling by Demi O’Byrne representing Coolmore Ireland who is regarded as one of the best bloodstock agents in the world.

Finally, I have a huge opinion of Husson as a sire and see his sire Hussonet and him being the most logical of crosses for these Danehill line mares and it is hard to argue the cross is going very well.
