The Colt


When you look at this photo you see an outstanding, well balanced colt from one of the very best farms in Australia. After I did my inspections at the Inglis Classic Sale I was determined to get this horse. He is a cracking type with great bone and a wonderful attitude.


I don’t purchase a lot of colts but when I do find one I really like I try to buy them. This fellow looks like a racehorse and is the ‘right’ type of Hinchinbrook.


I’m absolutely thrilled to have secured him and can’t wait for him to get to the races. He will be paid up for BOBS and the Inglis Series Of Races.


Hinchinbrook


Hinchinbrook is one of our very best young sires having been Champion First Season Sire in 2014/15 Season in Australia. He followed this up by being Champion Second Season Sire in 2015/16 Season and is currently leading the Third Season Sire’s List.


I supported Hinchinbrook from day one sending the best mare I was managing at the time to him. I must say I have learned a lot about the horse since that time and got it right purchasing Flying Jess at the 2015 Magic Millions Yearling Sale. She recently established herself as one of the best fillies in Australia beating the Duel Group 1 winner Global Glamour and boom horse Winning Rupert in the $2 million Magic Millions Guineas.


I have got another unraced three year old filly named Honolulu Lass and two two year old fillies by the horse and purchased this fellow so we have five of Hinchinbrook’s progeny on our books.


It wasn’t hard for me to be attracted to Hinchinbrook. He is the son of Snippet’s Lass the best mare Bill Mitchell trained while I was his racing manager. Snippet’s Lass was a wonderful racemare by the Champion sire Snippets from an outstanding North American family. This colt reminds me a lot of Snippet’s Lass. She wasn’t big but beautifully put together, strong and had a great will to win. Snippet’s Lass is also the dam of Champion Sire Snitzel. She hads made a huge impact on the Australian breeding landscape.


It should be remembered Hinchinbrook was a very smart racehorse winning twice at two including the ATC Skyline Stakes. He was also the first colt home in the Golden Slipper. He has aleady sired an outstanding colt with Press Statement winning at the highest level and is now at stud.


Amber’s Arion


Amber’s Arion is by the Kentucky Derby winner Fusaichi Pegasus (USA) out of a multiple Group and Listed winner Ambers Halo. It is fair to say Fusaichi Pegasus was a probably a disappointment here at stud but like so many of the shuttle stallions he is making his mark on our industry through his daughters.


Amber’s Arion is closely related to some outstanding horses including her half brother Taiyoo, a Group 3 winning horse of the Moonee Valley Cup, Amber’s Waltz, 2nd in the Group 2 ATC Silver Slipper Stakes, the Gold Coast Magic Millions Two Year Old Classic, Group 3 ATC Sweet Embrace Stakes as well as being 4tf in the Group 1 MRC 1000 Guineas.


Once again we have the WA influence in the pedigree. I love buying out of WA families because the mares are so tough. Some of the better horses I have been associated that have this influence include Dignity Dancer, Unabated, Zero Drama and Pitt Street.
