Description

Brave Smash x Pindan Pearl Filly

Trainer: Matt Cumani (Ballarat)
$2,825 per 2.5% Share (Early Bird Special - $2,775)

This filly is by the burgeoning sire Brave Smash, who has already produced a Group 1 winning filly, Kimochi, from limited numbers.
With a refined, feminine outlook and a pedigree boasting elite Group 1 performers, she represents an outstanding opportunity. This filly possesses a compact, athletic frame and a sharp, agile walk that remains remarkably fluid and graceful.

Sire: Brave Smash (JPN)

Beginning his career in Japan, Brave Smash was a precocious talent, winning the Saudi Arabia Royal Cup and placing multiple times at the highest level. He was purchased by Australian interests and became a dual Group 1 winner down here. He won the Futurity Stakes over 1400m and the Manikato Stakes over 1200m.

As a stallion, he has made an immediate impact. His first crop included debut winner Brave Mead (Group 3 Manfred Stakes winner) and the high-class Kimochi, winner of the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes. She was second in the Flight Stakes and Thousand Guineas as a three-year-old and trained on to win the Sir Rupert Clarke. She sold for $2.2m at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale.

Brave Smash’s progeny have shown exceptional aptitude for the Australian sprinting and mile ranks. After producing high-quality performers from modest initial books, he was recruited by the prestigious Yarraman Park Stud.

This filly belongs to his first crop conceived at Yarraman Park, benefitting from a significant upgrade in the quality of mares—pointing towards even greater success for his future crops.

Dam: Pindan Pearl (By Testa Rossa)

Pindan Pearl was a versatile and durable performer. She was a five-time winner from 1050m to 1900m. She was precocious enough to compete at two and maintained her form until age seven, earning over $250,000. Notably, four of her five career wins came at Metropolitan level. Even as a seven-year-old, she remained competitive in Stakes and Open company, proving her elite toughness and ability.

She hails from a highly productive family; her close relation Heavens Above was a three-time Stakes winner including the Group 1 Coolmore Classic.

Her granddam, Reggie (NZ), was a prolific winner, claiming 12 wins and was a Stakes performer. Furthermore, her broodmare sire Testa Rossa is a renowned producer of champions, most notably the Melbourne Cup winner Vow And Declare.

Nicks

The "Japanese Sire over an Australian Dam" cross has become a "Golden Cross" in recent years, producing a high strike rate of elite winners. Given Brave Smash’s own proven success on Australian turf, this filly is perfectly suited to local conditions.

This pedigree blends Japanese speed and stamina with the rugged toughness of the Australian/NZ female lines. Much like her parents, we expect her to be active as a 2-year-old, with the physical scope to develop into a high-class miler at three and beyond.

The Filly

She catches the eye with her compact build and athletic, effortless movement. While her sire’s influence suggests speed over sprint-to-mile distances, the stamina in her granddam’s line gives her the potential to stretch out to 2000m. This is a very stable, "winning" family that consistently produces athletes, topped by the G1 quality of Heavens Above.

Combining Japanese speed with a tough NZ/AUS foundation, she is not only an exciting racing prospect but also holds significant future residual value as a broodmare.
