This strong looking, athletic colt is by one of the most regally bred stallions in the land, from a multiple city-winning mare hailing from the family of the great GURNERS LANE (Caulfield & Melbourne Cup winner!).


“Arguably one of the best bred racehorses in Australia”, the BARBADOS story is an unfortunate one for Darley Racing, but hopefully can prove a great one for the value finding team at Grand Syndicates and their owners.


By the legendary stallion and sire of sires REDOUTE’S CHOICE, Barbados was born to be a superstar. His multiple G1 winning dam VIRAGE DE FORTUNE was purchased in foal, carrying BARBADOS by the Darley Racing empire for an impressive $3.4 million. Tragically at just 6 months old, Barbados broke his pelvis in a paddock accident, and so was confined to a box for 6 months. Because of his value, he was given a short race career, finishing 2nd on debut in the Rose Quality behind G3 winning and multiple stakes-placed fellow Darley runner BELLO. He then impressively won his next start before his injury and the further complications caused by it caught up with him and he was retired after just 5 starts. Now standing at stud in South Australia, he represents a very affordable way into some elite bloodlines and we were very excited to score one of his progeny at the Adelaide Magic Millions Sale.


A strong, correct colt, with plenty of Redoute’s Choice about him, this colt was a standout as soon as he walked out of his box. With a well-muscled shoulder and neck, good length of rein, and powerful hindquarters, he’s a colt that looks like he could be a great chance to run early.


From the 3-time city winning DANEHILL DANCER mare Dancing Elegance, our colt’s 2nd dam is the multiple city winning Elegant Court who’s produced 5 winners, while being the ½ sister to the stakes-winning and G1 placed FUJI DANCER. It’s a family that keeps getting exciting down the page, with our colt’s 3rd dam being Dancer’s Glory, a ½ sister to 4 stakes-winners including the champion racehorse GURNERS LANE, one of only 11 horses to ever complete the Caulfield & Melbourne Cups double.


To be trained by the Group 1 winning trainer David Jolly, this colt is also paid up for the lucrative SABOIS bonus scheme, which means that he’ll be racing for extra prizemoney when he graces the track in South Australia.


With all of the above going for him, it’s not hard to see why we’re very excited to have this colt as our first ever South Australian syndicate.
