Music Magnate wins trial ahead of Dubai

Monday 19 February 2018, 6:25pm

Group One winner Music Magnate has shown his readiness for his upcoming trip to Dubai with a decisive barrier trial win at Rosehill.

The Born Baker-trained six-year-old is scheduled to leave Sydney for Dubai on March 20 and compete in the Group One Al Quoz Sprint on March 31.

The winner of the 2016 Doomben 10,000, Music Magnate contested a 900m-trial on Monday, with Blake Shinn easing him to the outside on the turn and urging him forward.

He made up ground on the heat leader Schifty Thinker and went on to beat him by 2-3/4 lengths with Takedown third.

Victorian sprinter Illustrious Lad, who runs in Saturday's Group One Oakleigh Plate, has also been confirmed as an invitee to the Al Quoz Sprint, a race won by Australians Buffering in 2016 and Ortensia in 2012.
