Brazen plan pays off for Gollan at Doomben

Saturday 17 February 2018, 3:42pm

A plan by trainer Tony Gollan and Jim Byrne paid off when Brazen Moss scored an overdue win at Doomben.

Gollan and Byrne realised the main danger to Brazen Moss, Torgersen was drawn inside them and they were keen to keep here there on the wet track on Saturday.

"We knew Torgersen and Brazen Moss would both be back at the tail of the field and we were keen to keep Torgersen on the fence," Gollan said.

"Brazen Moss is a much better horse when able to get out in the clear and not up inside horses."

The plan worked out perfectly with the favourite Brazen Moss ($3) able to sweep wide on the track with Torgersen ($3.10) over near the fence.

At the line, Brazen Moss had three-quarters of a length to spare over Glendara ($5) with Torgersen a short head back third.
