Kings Will Dream scores Flemington victory

Trainer Darren Weir is loathe to spell a horse in winning form but is in a quandary over what to do with Kings Will Dream.

The English import remains unbeaten in Australia after taking out the Goodwood Racecourse Handicap at Flemington on Saturday.

Ridden by Mark Zahra, Kings Will Dream was sent out the $2.05 favourite before winning by a length from Notio ($9.50) with Downhearted ($6.50) 1-1/4 lengths away third.

Kings Will Dream won his Australian debut at Warrnambool in early January before scoring at Ballarat later that month.

"Everything's been great at home but his coat is still not there yet," Weir said.

"Looking at him in the yard you would say there was a lot of improvement to come from him, but it doesn't always work that way.

"The European's normally get better at their next preparations but it's pretty hard to turn them out while they're winning."

Kings Will Dream is trained from the beach at Warrnambool but Weir had considered switching the four-year-old to his country property at Maldon.

"Jarrod McLean, who runs my Warrnambool stable, and Tyson Kermond, who rides him in his work, say he's not an easy ride and I thought about sending him up the farm," Weir said.

"Night's Watch was a similar horse and going up to the farm, working on the heavy sand, was the making of him.

"It's just helps their manners."

Kings Will Dream's win completed a winning treble for Zahra following victories aboard Prairie Fire in The Asian Executive Stakes and Spanish Reef in the TCL TV Handicap.
