Baker trains first winner for Dundeel

Murray Baker, trainer of six-time Group One winner, (It's A) Dundeel has fittingly trained the first season sire's first winner.

Baker, who now trains in partnership with Andrew Forsman, took Dundeel to wins including the Australian Derby and Queen Elizabeth Stakes, his final start before he was retired to Arrowfield Stud.

Cutadeel stepped out at Tauranga on Friday to win a 1200m-race for two-year-olds.

"It's obviously a great result for Murray who trained Dundeel," Forsman told NZ Racing Desk.

Cutadeel, who had two barrier trials before his debut, was up on the pace with Jonathan Riddell aboard, finished strongly to beat his stablemate Thomas Aquinas.

"There was plenty in his trials to encourage us," Forsman said. "I'm not sure he's a natural two-year-old type, but he is a really nice horse."

Mike and Sharyn Craig, who were part of the syndicate that raced Dundeel, are also in the partnership that races Cutadeel.
