Trainer Toby Edmonds is confident he has made the right decision in not trialling promising Whypeeo before the gelding's comeback run at Doomben

Whypeeo confirmed he is one of the best three-year-olds in Queensland by beating quality fields at his two runs before a break.

A son of top sire I Am Invincible who Edmonds trained early in his career, Whypeeo resumes in the colts and geldings Three-Year-Old-Handicap (1050m) on Saturday.

Edmonds resisted the temptation to take Whypeeo to Sydney for the Golden Rose after the gelding won at Doomben on September 9.

"Our aim was always going to be the Magic Millions carnival. I thought he was racing too keenly for a race like the Golden Rose," Edmonds said.

"It was the right time for a break and we have him back now. I don't think he needed a trial to get him ready for the 1050 metres on Saturday."

"I hope I am right, but he is going OK and should race well."

At this stage Whypeeo is being set for the Magic Millions Guineas over 1400m but Edmonds has a back-up plan with the Magic Millions Sprint an option.

"He will have to learn not to want to go so hard early if he is to run a strong 1400," Edmonds said.

Edmonds also has stakes winning mare Col 'N' Lil resuming in the Listed Keith Noud Quality on Saturday.

When trained by Ben Currie, Col 'N' Lil won eight races including two at stakes level before being sold at the Magic Millions broodmare sale in June.

Her new owners are long time clients of Edmonds and switched her to him.

"She is a lightly framed mare but she has built up a bit during a spell," Edmonds said.

"She did dead-heat to win the Weetwood last time fresh but it is a pretty smart field of sprinters on Saturday."
