Boom Time settles into Japan ahead of Cup

Wednesday 15 November 2017, 5:55pm

Caulfield Cup winner Boom Time is settling in well ahead of his start in the Japan Cup.

Boom Time, who is owned by his co-trainer David Hayes, earned an invitation to contest Sunday week's Japan Cup (2400m) after winning the $3 million Caulfield Cup over the same distance last month.

After seeing how the six-year-old came through his unplaced Melbourne Cup run over 3200m last week, connections decided to take up the challenge of running in Japan and Boom Time flew out on Monday.

"He travelled well on the flight," co-trainer Tom Dabernig said.

"And all the signs of eating and drinking and everything are perfect. So he's arrived safely and travelled well."

Stable foreman Gary Fennessy and trackwork rider Dara O'Meachair travelled with Boom Time.

Cory Parish, who has ridden Boom Time in the Caulfield Cup and Melbourne Cup this spring, will be aboard again in the Japan Cup with David Hayes also set to make the trip over for the race.

The TAB has Boom Time at $26 with last year's winner Kitasan Black the $2.50 favourite.
