Tiger's Tale of perseverance in Highways

Saturday 11 November 2017, 7:01pm

Tiger By The Tale is living proof that if first you don't succeed, try again - even if it takes two years.

The six-year-old gelding has competed in 16 Highway Handicaps - or more than half of his 30 starts since the series was introduced in October, 2015.

But on Saturday at Rosehill, Tiger By The Tale finally claimed a win for trainer Danny Williams as a $21 chance with veteran jockey Glyn Schofield aboard for the first time.

"He's had more starts than any of the horses in the Highways to date so it's been a long time coming," Williams said.

"When you go back through his form, he's probably unlucky not to have won one or two of these Highways."
