Kerrin McEvoy to ride Turn Me Loose

Tuesday 17 January 2017, 1:31pm

Kerrin McEvoy will join forces again with Turn Me Loose when the New Zealander begins his next campaign in the Group Two Australia Stakes at Moonee Valley.

This season's Melbourne Cup-winning jockey, McEvoy has had one ride on the star kiwi for victory in the 2015 Group One Emirates Stakes at Flemington.

The Australia Stakes (1200m) on January 27 kicks off a campaign aimed at the Group One C F Orr Stakes and Turn Me Loose's defence of the Futurity Stakes at Caulfield.

"He (McEvoy) won the Emirates on him so he knows him well," co-trainer Murray Baker told nzracing.co.

"It's only 1200 metres and it will be too short for him. He always needs a race to get him going. The main aims are the Orr Stakes and the Futurity Stakes, which he won last year.

"I've got to say that we are thrilled with the way the horse is going."

Turn Me Loose will be flown to Melbourne on Wednesday evening.
