Small field for Rosehill 2000m-event

Friday 17 June 2016, 3:25pm

Improving middle distance performer Dance Of Heroes will be given his chance in a stakes race in Queensland, leaving just a field of five for the 2000 metre event at Rosehill.

With their stablemate redirected to Saturday's Listed Ipswich Cup (2150m), trainer Chris Waller will rely on Beyond Thankful and Loophole in what will be a tactical race at Rosehill.

"Dance Of Heroes much better on a good track than he was at his last start," Waller said.

"I think he should be suited to the Ipswich Cup and he deserves a chance in a stakes race."

The five-year-old is UBET's $5.50 second favourite behind Maurus at $2.50 while the Bjorn Baker-trained Sebring is the firmer in the Rosehill race with the TAB tightening her from $2.20 to $2.05 on Friday.

Baker entered the mare for two races but has opted for the open handicap rather than the 1800m-benchmark 84.

Sebrina was part of a winning double for apprentice Deanne Panya when she took out a 1500m-race on June 4 but trainer David Payne has snapped the three-kilogram claimer up for Foreign Prince, her other winner last Saturday week.

Kerrin McEvoy will ride Sebrina, who like Foreign Prince, led when she won at Rosehill.

With Rosehill rated a soft 6 on Friday and rain predicted, Foreign Prince should get conditions to suit.

"His last start was his third run back and he will be even fitter for Saturday," Payne said.

"This is his time of the year. He likes the wet, winter tracks so we planned his preparation accordingly.

"He is a horse that holds his form once he starts winning."

Loophole finished third behind Foreign Prince but gets a two-kilo weight turnaround this time while Group Three winner Beyond Thankful will carry his full 61 kilograms with Hugh Bowman to ride.
