Cancelled meetings causing headaches

Jason Warren is one trainer frustrated by the wet weather which has caused the transfer and cancellation of race meetings.

Warren has been forced to alter plans for Been Scene who will be aiming for three straight victories if she lines up in the Showtime Attractions Cup (1200m) at Mornington on Monday.

The trainer was confident he had found a suitable assignment for the mare at Wangaratta last Thursday only for that meeting to be reprogrammed to Tuesday at Wodonga where Been Scene is also an acceptor.

"She's absolutely flying but we've just got to place her right," Warren said.

"She's drawn a bit wide on Monday and it's a relatively strong race.

"We've also accepted at Wodonga on Tuesday as well which is our back-up.

"We've got to look at both races and if we like the Mornington race enough, we'll run."

Been Scene has been in sparkling form this preparation.

She returned from a spell to win at Moe before rising in grade to score on slow ground at Cranbourne on May 20.

Mornington was in the heavy range on Sunday but that doesn't worry Warren who said the mare should have no problems handling those conditions.

"It's a metropolitan race which is also appealing," Warren said.

"She's in good order and the wet track is a big tick, so we'll assess it all."

Warren also has Sang Choi Bao engaged in the race.

Sang Choi Bao was the third emergency for Saturday's Comic Court Handicap at Flemington but failed to gain a start.

Warren said the track condition would determine if Sang Choi Bao took his place on Monday.

"He'll be scratched if the track is heavy and the back-up with him will be Ballarat on Thursday," Warren said.
