Jacqui's Joy will remain in Melbourne to race at Sandown before connections turn their attention towards feature races for fillies in Adelaide.

Jacqui's Joy is nominated for Saturday's 1600m fillies handicap at Sandown as well as the Listed Laelia Stakes in Adelaide on the same day.

Co-trainer Mitchell Beer confirmed the Australasian Oaks hopeful will run in Melbourne.

He said the intention after her last-start fourth in the Group Three Alexandra Stakes had been to wait for the Group Three Auraria Stakes (1800m) in Adelaide on April 23 as the filly's final lead-in to the Group One Australasian Oaks (2000m) on May 7.

But those plans changed after seeing how well the filly came through the Moonee Valley race.

"She's just thriving and has done so well since her last run so I certainly think she needs another race before heading over to Adelaide," Beer said.

"I didn't want to take her over there this Saturday and have to leave her there for three runs or make three trips across.

"So she'll stay in Victoria to race on Saturday then head over for the race (Auraria Stakes) in a fortnight."

Michael Dee will ride Jacqui's Joy at Sandown and Beer believes the experienced apprentice's 1.5kg claim, which takes the filly's weight down from 58.5kg to 57kg, will be important.

"She's not an overly big filly so I think any weight off her back helps," he said.

Bendigo Guineas winner Silent Sedition, who is also being aimed towards the Australasian Oaks, headlines the 46 nominations for Saturday's race.

Beer felt Jacqui's Joy didn't have the best luck in the Alexandra Stakes but was thrilled with the way she found the line.

"Her last 100 metres was outstanding, I thought, to get home and run fourth," Beer said.
