Steve Wilson interim chair of RQ

Saturday 2 April 2016, 12:04pm

Brisbane business and sports identity Steve Wilson has been appointed the interim chairman of Racing Queensland.

Wilson was chairman of Brisbane's South Bank Corporation for 16 years and was also a director of Telstra and Tourism Queensland, chairman of the St John's Cathedral Completion Fund, and deputy chairman of the Queensland Rugby Union.

Racing Minister Grace Grace also announced three other board appointees representing each of the racing codes - Jim Rundle (thoroughbreds), Margaret Reynolds (harness) and Dale Cartwright (greyhounds).

Another three independent board members will be named if the government can get its new Queensland Racing Integrity Bill through parliament this month.

Wilson said his first major task would be to recruit a chief executive for Racing Queensland after interim boss Ian Hall finished last week and was replaced by another interim appointee, Sam Adams.
