Lofty ambitions on the line at Sandown

Wednesday 3 February 2016, 6:55am

A midweek three-year-old race at Sandown could have a big bearing on the future careers of two last-start winners.

Popovich is racing for a potential future in Hong Kong while Galaxy Raider is being aimed at next month's Group One Australian Guineas.

The pair meet in the Ladbrokes Bet Better Handicap over 1300m at Sandown on Wednesday.

Both were successful in maiden grade at Sandown at their only starts with Popovich winning over 1200m on January 6 and Galaxy Raider scoring a week later over the same distance.

Early betting on the race has Popovich the $3 favourite ahead of Galaxy Raider at $4.60.
