Black Caviar among Newmarket nominations

Tuesday 22 January 2013, 5:57pm

Champion sprinter Black Caviar and last year's winner Hay List headline the list of nominations for the Newmarket Handicap, while Melbourne Cup winner Green Moon has been entered for the Australian Cup.

The nominations for the two Group One features at Flemington on March 9 were released on Tuesday along with the entries for the Group One Australian Guineas to be run at the same track a week earlier.

Caulfield Guineas winner All Too Hard and the Gai Waterhouse-trained Pierro are the star attractions among the 76 Australian Guineas nominations.

Black Caviar ramped up preparations for her autumn carnival return with a jumpout at Sandown on Tuesday.

She is among 65 nominations for the $1 million Newmarket (1200m).

Black Caviar won the Newmarket two years ago with 58kg while Hay List won last year with Black Caviar bypassing the handicap.

Weights for the Newmarket will be released on February 26.

Trainer Peter Moody has six Newmarket nominations and so does Peter Snowden.

Internationally-successful sprinter Ortensia is also entered for the Newmarket, as is Perth sprinter Barakey.

The Lloyd Williams-owned Green Moon is one of 48 nominations for the Australian Cup (2000m).

Stablemates Tanby and Mourayan have also been nominated.

Last year's Australian Cup winner Manighar isn't among the nominations but Moody has My Quest For Peace and Sneak A Peek in the entries.

Three-year-old All Too Hard is also an Australian Cup nomination along with Victoria Derby winner Fiveandahalfstar.
