While many horses stayed at home because of a wet Rosehill track, Amanda Turner and Mauro Poletti have taken advantage of the conditions to notch a training double.

The Warwick Farm partnership brought two runners to Rosehill on Saturday - More to Gain and Bring Luck - and enticed jockey Peter Wells to come with them.

The South Coast-based Wells spends most Saturdays riding on provincial tracks but Turner was happy to get him to come to town.

"We were going to run Bring Luck at Kembla today but wanted Peter to ride so we brought him to Rosehill," Turner said.

"It's our first metropolitan double and it's also great for Peter. He comes up to Warwick Farm once a week and his input is invaluable.

For the most part, Wells is happy to ply his trade away from the city and couldn't remember the last time he had a double in the city.

"When was the last time I rode on a Saturday in town? It must be eight years ago," he said.

In fact it must be a little less, with Wells claiming his biggest win in the 2008 Group One Metropolitan on Newport.

More To Gain ($7) came from worse than midfield to win the Cellarbrations benchmark 68 by 1-1/4 lengths from the well-supported favourite Dinghu Mountain ($4.40 to $3.20).

Bring Luck also caused an upset in the Erindale Liquor (1900m) when the $15 chance put a decisive 2-1/2 lengths on the favourite Sir John Hawkwood ($2.30).

Turner revealed she had been ready to give training away three years ago but was encouraged to keep going by jockey Nathan Berry who died last year from a rare condition related to epilepsy.

"I was nearly going to give it up because it was so frustrating getting placings all the time without winning," she said.

"Nathan encouraged me to keep going and days like this make it worthwhile."
