Group One winner Go Indy Go retired

Monday 7 September 2015, 6:22pm

Group One winner Go Indy Go's racing career is over with the mare expected to be served by Fastnet Rock later this month.

The winner of the 2014 Champagne Stakes, Go Indy Go failed to live up to expectations the following spring and was given a long spell.

Her inability to put on weight was the biggest concern although extensive tests failed to find any reason.

On Monday, Andrew Gluyas, who trained the mare in partnership with Leon Macdonald in Adelaide, said the same problems had resurfaced.

"It's come up again exactly the same as before," Gluyas said.

"After a year we are back to square one so the owner, Harry Perks, has decided to pull the pin.

"It's a bit frustrating and disappointing but she is a valuable brood mare."

Go Indy Go came back to the races last month but finished eighth in two races at Morphettville.

The mare is by Bernadini out of Zabeel mare Elegant Eagle who has also produced stakes-winning sprinter Essay Raider and Battle Brewing who has been placed at Group and Listed level.

Battle Brewing, who has been entered for the Caulfield Guineas, will run in a 1300m-race at Morphettville on Wednesday.
