Queensland jockeys to meet over work cover

Tuesday 14 July 2015, 7:55am

Senior officials from the Australian Jockeys Association will join Queensland riders in a meeting over new new work cover proposals.

After the sacking of the Racing Queensland board, KPMG has taken over and jockeys are concerned about reports of cuts to workers' compensation and riding fees amid rumours of a $20 million shortfall.

Queensland Jockeys Association president Glen Prentice and AJA chief executive Paul Innes are scheduled join jockeys on Tuesday in a meeting with KPMG's Ian Hall who has taken over from RQ's sacked chief executive Darren Condon.

"We will have several issues to raise including work cover," Prentice said.

Unlike other states, RQ oversaw all three racing codes - harness, greyhounds and thoroughbreds, until the recent live-baiting scandal in greyhounds.

A Commission of Inquiry has recommended a seven-member all-codes board be established as the control body.
