A long-standing friendship with owners Brian and Alwyn Durrington has led to Trevor Miller taking over the preparation of country Queensland star Victory Hotel.
The four-year-old has his first run for the stable in the Mt Franklin Hcp (1650m) at Doomben on Saturday.
The gelding won four races during the recent central Queensland carnival including last month's $100,000 Rockhampton Cup (1600m).
The Durringtons have had many horses with the Caloundra-based Miller and have transferred Victory Hotel from Bundaberg's Darryl Gardiner for a metropolitan campaign.
"Darryl did a fantastic job with Victory Hotel. He is a big horse and came here in top condition," Miller said.
"We have drawn the outside alley on Saturday which is no help but Michael Cahill has agreed to ride him which is a boost."
By Hotel Grand out of Satin Dream, Victory Hotel has won nine of his 16 starts.
Miller will also saddle up Monaco Playboy for the Durringtons in the 1100m sprint for two-year-olds.
"Monaco Playboy has been very consistent in his four runs to date. He was a very good winner first up at the Sunshine Coast on a heavy track but I think he is just as good on the dry," Miller said.
