First entries taken for Slipper, Diamond

Gai Waterhouse has begun her quest for a record seventh Golden Slipper victory entering 113 horses for the $3.5 million race.

Waterhouse, who won this year's Slipper with Vancouver, has the second highest number of nominations behind Godolphin which has 158 rising two-year-olds in the mix.

Overall, the Australian Turf Club received 2006 entries for next year's race including 84 apiece from the Chris Waller and Peter and Paul Snowden yards.

Nominations have also closed for next year's Blue Diamond Stakes in Melbourne which the Snowden's will be striving to win back-to-back having claimed this year's renewal with Pride Of Dubai.

The training partnership has entered 83 horses for the Blue Diamond, behind only Godolphin (95), the David Hayes and Tom Dabernig team (86) and Waterhouse (84).

The Melbourne Racing Club received a total of 1343 entries for the 2016 Blue Diamond Stakes.
