Prizemoney boost for country Cups in Vic

Monday 29 June 2015, 4:37pm

Three country Cup races in Victoria have received a prize money injection.

The Cranbourne Cup, Bendigo Cup and Ballarat Cup will each be worth $300,000 this spring with the extra money a joint initiative between Racing Victoria and the respective clubs.

The Listed Cranbourne Cup (2025m) in October and the Group Three Ballarat Cup (2200m) in November increase from $200,000 while the Group Three Bendigo Cup (2400m) in October goes up from $250,000.

"To have prize money lifted to $300,000 for each of the Cranbourne, Bendigo and Ballarat Cups is a fantastic achievement for the respective Clubs and is testament to the importance of these races to Victoria's spring racing carnival," RV's racing operations manager, Paul Bloodworth said.
