McEvoy, Colless, Goold in Doomben bans

Saturday 9 May 2015, 6:02pm

Racing Queensland stewards have clamped down on careless riding, suspending three jockeys after the Doomben Cup-BTC Cup meeting.

Sydney jockey Kerrin McEvoy was suspended for six meetings for causing interference on Estonian Princess in the Darley BRC Sprint on Saturday.

McEvoy pleaded guilty and asked stewards to take into account his good record.

Chief steward Alan Reardon said McEvoy had not been suspended since 2013 and his guilty plea was also taken into account.

McEvoy will be able to resume riding on May 22 and will be available for rides on Doomben 10,000 day.

Jockey Glen Colless pleaded guilty to causing interference while riding Sister Emma in the Juanmo Stakes.

Apprentice Geoff Goold was also outed for six meetings for causing interference on Typhoon Red in the BRC Sprint.

His suspension will begin at midnight on Saturday week, allowing him to ride at the Caloundra Cup meeting next Saturday.
