Cirrus Des Aigles nearing G1 return

Wednesday 15 April 2015, 8:38am

Cirrus Des Aigles is primed for his comeback in the Prix Ganay according to trainer Corine Barande-Barbe.

The nine-year-old has not been seen since finishing a close fourth in the Hong Kong Cup in December.

Barande-Barbe opted not to send her stable star to Meydan for last month's Dubai Sheema Classic.

The six-time Group One winner will instead make his reappearance in the Ganay at Longchamp, a race in which he got the better of dual Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner Treve last year.

"He is very well at the moment. We gave him a nice time after his run in Hong Kong," Barande-Barbe said.

"He's amazing. Every morning you think you are dreaming with him. He is acting very well and he is joking around.

"He has been out working on the grass and he will go to the Ganay next month and then to the Prix d'Ispahan at Longchamp, the same as last year."

Assuming all goes to plan, Cirrus Des Aigles is almost certain to return to England.

"I have just entered him in the Coronation Cup at Epsom as he loves going to England," Barande-Barbe said.

"It's good for him as he is a gelding and there are more opportunities for him.

"If he is well, he will come back to Ascot in October for the Champions Stakes again."
