Helen Page gives Villiers Stakes winner Rudy an undeniable chance of adding to his Sydney record.
And the Gold Coast trainer is just as optimistic about Powerful Saga keeping an unbeaten streak in the Tattersall's Racing Club Plate on her home track on Saturday.
Page will be in Sydney to saddle up Rudy at Rosehill in the Ajax Stakes, the four-year-old's final run before the Doncaster Mile.
Rudy has gate nine in a field of 11.
"It probably would have been better to draw a bit closer on Saturday but it looks the perfect lead-up race for him," Page said.
It will be up to her husband John to carry out raceday duties when Powerful Saga shoots for a hat-trick after wins at Doomben and the Gold Coast.
Page says form out of Sydney lead-up races to the Golden Slipper gives her added confidence about the colt's prospects at the Gold Coast and beyond.
Powerful Saga showed plenty of heart to run down Tibrogargan Miss at Doomben last month.
"Tibrogargan Miss hasn't been disgraced in Sydney in a couple of runs since so it gives us some idea of where Powerful Saga is at," Page said.
Page has winter carnival ambitions for Powerful Saga.
"I think a race like the BRC Sires' (Produce Stakes) at Doomben in May will be perfect for him," she said.
"A couple of the off-spring out of his dam have been short-course horses but Powerful Saga indicates he wants a bit further."
Eleven horses have accepted for the Gold Stakes with last season's Queensland Guineas winner Sir Moments set to resume with 59.5kg.
Sir Moments hasn't raced since finishing midfield to Rudy in the Villiers but the four-year-old has a worthy first-up record with a win and two placings from five starts when returning.
