Dear Demi topweight for Coolmore Classic

Tuesday 10 March 2015, 6:01pm

Dear Demi will carry top weight in the Group One Coolmore Classic for fillies and mares at Rosehill on Saturday.

Weights for the $600,000 race at Rosehill were released on Tuesday with the Clarry Conners-trained Dear Demi given 58kg while star three-year-old filly and likely favourite First Seal has 55.5kg.

First Seal was due to be joined in the Coolmore Classic by stablemate Danesiri but the John Thompson-trained mare suffered a tendon injury on Tuesday and has been retired.

First Seal will attempt to win her second Group One in Saturday's 1500m event after taking out the Flight Stakes in the spring.

The daughter of Fastnet Rock was an impressive winner of the Group Two Surround Stakes last start.
