Walk completed at Moonee Valley

Monday 9 March 2015, 3:05pm

A field of 220 charity walkers has completed the journey from Sandown to Moonee Valley, raising almost $270,000 in donations.

The 4tracks4kids charity walk began at Sandown at 5am on Monday and took in Caulfield and Flemington racecourses with the journey completed at the winning post at Moonee Valley not long after the second race at 1.30pm.

Gai Waterhouse, the inaugural ambassador for 4tracks4kids, gave her moral support as husband Rob "broke ranks" by completing the walk in 5-1/2 hours.

"I was at Flemington when they started," Waterhouse said.

"I thought that being in Melbourne I should take advantage of seeing the horses with such a big day ahead on Saturday.

"It was so great to see so many well known faces in the walk today.

"I waved them midfield and met them at the end.

"All those that did the walk are the real stars."

With almost $270,000 raised TVN's Bruce Clark said the charity walk was hoping to get to $300,000 in donations supporting Doxa Youth Foundation, the National Jockeys' Trust, Very Special Kids and the Pancare Foundation.
