Connections of Golden Slipper winner Mossfun have taken a fresh approach to her next challenge after a first-up run that didn't meet expectations.
The filly was among the favoured runners when she resumed in last month's Light Fingers Stakes but after taking up a forward position she faded to finish midfield.
Jockey Tommy Berry admitted he had anticipated a better result and Mossfun's below par run had prompted a reassessment from the Hawkes Racing team.
"She was very disappointing but she went keen over 1200 metres and in hindsight, the Hawkes Team said 1200 was probably too far for her first-up," Berry said.
"She is back to 1000 metres on Saturday and while she is out of her own age group there does look to be a lot of pace in the race which will suit her.
"She has always been better ridden a bit quiet."
The Light Fingers was Mossfun's first run since her Golden Slipper victory after a virus ended her spring carnival campaign before it began.
A dual acceptor for Saturday's Randwick program, she is an early scratching from the Fireball Stakes after drawing barrier 13.
Mossfun will instead take on older horses in a Challenge Stakes field headed by Group One winner Famous Seamus and including the speedy Rain Affair, smart colt Rubick and Miracles Of Life.
The filly has drawn gate six in the Group Two sprint.
