A lucrative sales restricted race at Sandown on Saturday is the immediate target for two-year-old Jameka but she could also earn a shot at an even bigger prize.

The Ciaron Maher-trained filly hit the line well for second at Bendigo on debut when the Wez Hunter-trained winner Parcel set a 900m track record.

Maher gave Jameka a couple of weeks in the paddock after that race before turning his attention to Saturday's $250,000 Inglis Premier (1000m) at Sandown.

If she can win, Maher says the $1 million Blue Diamond Stakes will come into consideration.

"This is the race we targeted for her. And if she happens to win, me might look at the Diamond," Maher said.

"But I think she's improved off her first run."

Jameka will be ridden by Craig Williams in Saturday's event which has attracted 14 starters.

The filly will jump from the second outside gate but the wide draw hasn't dampened Maher's optimism.

"I think she's a pretty progressive filly," Maher said.

"She's always shown me nice ability and she's a big scopey horse."

Jameka is the $4.20 second favourite behind the Robbie Griffiths-trained debutante Deja Blue who is at $3.60 after opening at $4.80 on Wednesday.
