Stud Comments
The Soldier's Tale story is one of remarkable courage that was capped of with a Gr.1 victory on the greatest stage of all, Royal Ascot.Rated the best juvenile in the yard of Jeremy Noseda, he won at 2yo before he was afflicted with the first of many incidental injuries. He recovered to win a Group race as a 3yo before running a gallant 4th in the Gr.1 July Cup. Unfortunately he was once again hit by injury and then suffered an extreme bout of colic which almost brought about the early demise of the horse.
After a lay off of nearly two years the horse recovered and was set a preparation for the Gr.1 Golden Jubilee over 1200m. Placing twice at stakes level Soldier's Tale joined a red hot field that included Australian Champions Takeover Target and Miss Andretti as well as Gr.1 winners Magnus, Amadeus Wolf and Red Clubs. He was able to overcome them all to record victory and in the process receive a Timeform rating of 126, the second highest for a sprinting entire. He finished having only missed a placing once when running fourth in the July Cup.
Out of a stakes placed mare, Soldier's Tale is one of a handful of sons by Stravinsky to stand at stud. Another of his sire sons, Oratorio (Aus) who has been a smash hit in WA.
An athletic type with a strong hind quarter and great bone, Soldier's Tale presents as the perfect type for siring Australian racehorses and yearling buyers agree. His first progeny to the yearling sales were well received with good price across the board.
