Danbird offers South Australian breeders a chance to give the progeny of their mare an injection of Danehill speed.Appearing just a couple of seasons after his full brother Catbird has won the Golden Slipper and been named Champion 2YO, there were high expectations for Danbird's career. He didn't disappoint in his juvenile season as he was able to place in the Magic Millions 2YO and win the Gr.2 Pago Pago Stakes a race won by the likes of Rory's Jester and Strategic.
Danbird showed a degree of toughness many do not. Despite enduring a hard 2YO preparation he was able to train on and Gr.1 perform at 3YO and win stakes multiple races at 4YO.
By the incomparable sire of sires in modern times, Danehill, Danbird has a fantastic pedigree. Out of the stakes winning Marscay mare Fitting, Danbird's full brother Catbird was not only a champion on the track but also a triple Gr.1 sire before a premature demise.
A horse who was given the rare opportunity to shuttle from Australia to the Northern Hemisphere, Danbird has had winners in eight individual countries. These winners include stakes horses Royal Dalton and Captain Clayton as well as Inglis Challenge winner Alcancia.
