Barbary Lion is a 4yo gelding by the Group One winning sire Lion Heart. As a two-year-old Lion heart topped his breeze up sale at Fasig-Tipton when knocked down for $1.4 million and at two became an unbeaten Group One winner. At three he trained on to win the Group One Haskell Invitational and ran a gallant second to Smarty Jones in the Kentucky Derby. Not only was Lion Heart a champion racehorse, he has proven himself an excellent sire, producing several group winners.
Barbary Lion is out of the mare Bunda Grande who is a half sister to metropolitan grade winners, Maestro Maker (7 wins), Prince Sienna (5 wins) and Princeps (4 wins). His half brother Bureaucratic was a promising galloper, winning 4 starts in his short career before he was forced to retire early through illness.
Standing at approximately 16.2hh this gelding possesses size, scope, strength and conformation that are hard to match. He is lightly raced, having only 6 starts and placing 4th over 1100m. This horse has a lot more to show. He is in excellent condition and with the right stable his first win is just around the corner.
This lovely gelding is regretfully offered for sale due to a deceased partnership. Must sell.
