Description

This well conformed 2YO colt has just completed over 50 educational rides on a cattle property, since being broken-in during April 2013. Currently almost 16 hands, well behaved under saddle, very correct in the legs and has tough, sound hooves. Bred along classic staying lines and so should be allowed time to fully mature. Only being sold due to work commitments and has not yet been to a racetrack.

Note that he is bred on a rare 2 x 3 cross to world champion stallion DANEHILL (USA). (Last season’s Australian Champion 2-Y-O filly GUELPH, now a 4 times Group 1 winner, is also bred on a 2 x 3 cross to Danehill.)

By the classically bred 1st season sire OCTOBER SKY (IRE), by Danehill (USA) x Cumbres (FR) by Kahyasi (IRE). October Sky was a versatile Brisbane winner over 1350 and 1600 m, with placings in Ireland up to 2600 m in a career restricted by the management of an injury.

OCTOBER SKY is from a half-sister to champion European stallion MONTJEU (IRE), 6 times Gr 1 winner, inc Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, and now one of the world’s greatest sires of stayers, with 10 Derby winners, inc 4 English, 4 Irish and 2 Australian derbies, plus an Arc de Triomphe winner. Sire of over 64% winners to runners, 107 SW and earnings of over $120 million. Champion sire sons include AUTHORIZED and MOTIVATOR.

OCTOBER SKY is a ¾ brother to AGAIN (IRE), Joint Champion 2YO Filly in Ireland in 2008 (Irish One Thousand Gns, Gr.1, Curragh Moyglare Stud S., Gr.1).

OCTOBER SKY is the only stallion in Australia bred on the same DANEHILL x KAHYASI cross as boom young European sire DANSILI (GB), already with 68% winners to runners, 86 SW and earnings of over $65 million, inc HARBINGER, 2400m course record holder at Royal Ascot and the world’s highest rated racehorse in 2010, plus RAIL LINK (Arc de Triomphe), etc. Dansili is being hailed by Racing Post as the son most likely to emulate his illustrious father Danehill (USA), possibly the world’s greatest ever TB stallion.

This 2YO colt is the 2nd foal of a young mare by ARENA, by Danehill (USA) x Lee’s Bid (NZ). Arena was one of Danehill’s greatest stayers, with 6 wins, inc VRC Derby, and 2nd in AJC Derby and VRC Australian Cup. He has since become a prolific sire of winners (55% winners to runners) and a good sire of broodmares.
